Team

Volunteering meets code.

We are four coaches of a youth team and know grassroots football first-hand. We built what we were missing on the pitch ourselves.

In charge of everything that pleases the eye. Goalkeeper coach on the pitch, user-experience thinker in the app. So that the keepers miss nothing either.

The storyPage 3

From the pitch to the app.

It began with a simple question: how do we rate our players fairly? Four coaches, four different points of view, and every time we ended up with the same discussion: who belongs in the squad? Who has earned a place in the starting eleven this weekend? We wanted to move away from pure gut feeling and towards a transparent assessment that is fair to every player.

The reality, however, looked quite different at first: five different apps, chat groups for everything under the sun, spreadsheets and a shoebox full of receipts. After every training session each coach had to send their own figures, impressions and ratings to the coaching team by message. It was time-consuming, error-prone and nobody enjoyed it.

The first solution was a spreadsheet monster with dozens of sheets, in which every coach was supposed to enter their assessments after training. That worked for a while. But it was cumbersome, the evaluation was a science in itself every time, and at the latest when we tried to compare form over several weeks, the system reached its limits. So at some point the spreadsheets became a proper app. At first only for our own team, to make our own training routine easier.

Of course there are professional tools on the market: systems built for top-flight and professional clubs that go much deeper in their analysis. But together with our team and the parents, we asked ourselves: what really helps at grassroots level? What gives coaches genuine, structured feedback about their players? What brings parents closer to what is happening in the team, without them having to pester the coach every Saturday? And above all: what do the children themselves enjoy?

The result is an app that takes every child on their very own development journey in a playful way. Through their own club logo, team photos, individual running data in matches and personal statistics, every player gets the feeling: this is my team, this is my data, this is my path. The children have something of their own in their hands, an app that feels like their team in their pocket. And that motivates them to stay on the ball. At the same time, a genuine basis for conversation between coach and player gradually builds up. Form curves, statistics and ratings make progress visible that is easily overlooked in everyday life. So instead of a vague “you need to improve”, there is a concrete “look, here you have improved over the last few weeks, and there is something we can still work on together.”

Fußball-Performance.de is deliberately not an app just for performance-driven top teams. Every child wants to develop, wherever they currently stand, whether in the Landesliga or the district league (Kreisklasse). That is exactly why the coach can set the rating criteria individually and adapt them to each single player. For one, the will to win counts; for the next, technical execution; for the third, enjoyment of the game; and for the fourth perhaps the courage to try something new in training. So a rating does not become a judgement, but a tool that makes development visible. For coaches, parents and the children themselves.

Our valuesPage 4

What drives us.

Three principles by which we measure every new feature.

Practical focus

We coach ourselves. Every feature was needed on the pitch first, before we built it. No feature from an ivory tower.

Data protection

GDPR-compliant from the start. No tracking, no passing on of data. Your players' data is safe.

Volunteering

We do not do this for the money. We do it because youth football deserves better tools: for coaches, players and families.

Write to us.

No ticket system, no bot. A message to real coaches who stand on the touchline themselves at the weekend.
